Birth Preparation

Birth Beast Mindset Training

There is no greater energy than alignment – when what you think, what you say, and what you do, all match up

Birth Beast Mindset Training in this series is all about building your foundation

The concept that ‘your mind impacts everything’ is heavily supported by research in psychology, neuroscience, and medicine, illustrating that the mind-body connection is a single, integrated system.

The mind acts as a filter, shaping reality through beliefs, perceptions, and emotions, which in turn drive physical actions and physiological changes.

The power of belief (placebo / nocebo) – The mind can influence physical health positively (placebo effect) or negatively (nocebo effect) based on thoughts and expectations.

One of the most powerful things you can do is consistently show up for yourself. Confidence is is born by repeatedly choosing actions you may not want to do, but you know are good for you. This rewires the brain to become the future version of yourself that you dream of. It is through these repeated actions that you become the version of you that is confident to birth.

Set a strong foundation here as a trajectory for your mind, then follow up with ‘Live Class Extras”.

Birth Preparation

Never Let Yourself Down

Build a history in your subconscious that you follow through with things

You are who you are today because of the story you have told your brain. Every thought, every choice, every action has reinforced that identity.

You are the creator of your life.

You get to choose the story of who you are an where you are going next.

If you tell yourself you are going to do something, do it.

Your brain doesn’t rewire based on what you want, it rewires based on who you are being.

Meditations

Realistic ways to work with meditation, especially if you are already a mum with your hands full.

Meditation is not simply “not thinking”, forcing the mind to be empty, you sitting on the couch trying to be like a Buddha. Thoughts are natural and will continue to arise. Instead, think of it is the practice of becoming aware of thoughts without judgment, acknowledging them, and gently returning focus to an anchor, such as the breath, movement or a guided meditation.

Guided meditation while walking, folding washing, driving in the car etc is a perfect way to integrate this practice into your daily life. Mindful breathing meditations are perfect for this! Look them up on free Insight timer app.

It is about training the mind to return to the present moment when it wanders, not forcing it into complete silence.

Many women Danae works with need movement to quiet their mind, that is very normal. Subliminal background messaging is more powerful than you realise.

What Are My Qualities?

Do They Match Up with the Birth I Want?

The hardest but most transformative thing you can do is to act like your future self when everything in your current reality is trying to convince you otherwise

There are infinite potential versions of you that already exist. The version of you that practices all the birth skills and training is the version you will collapse into reality.

Create the qualities you want to have for your birth by acting them out every day.

This take discipline, commitment and courage. Its often uncomfortable, but that how you grow and shift and upgrade your brain.

Its the relentless pursuit of the micro actions you take every day, in the direction you want to go, with no excuses, that moves mountains.

Birth Preparation

Self Limiting Mindset

Your thoughts are self-fulfilling prophecies.

What you believe your brains creates | What you doubt your brain blocks

Your brain’s filtering system magnifies your beliefs and intentions. Those default beliefs shape your behaviours and decisions further impounding your beliefs.

Belief: “I can birth my baby powerfully in my birth pool” – you arrange a model of care that supports physiology, you actively practice birth training and evidence based strategies to obtain normal physiology birth, you listen to empowering stories from other women that have had water births in a birth center or homebirth.

Belief: “Birth is too painful and dangerous” – you arrange a highly medicalised model of care, you magnify no’s, lower your expectations of your ability, sort for others or procedures to save you from the experience (many of which cascade into further intervention), listen to traumatic birth stories.

You can see how 2 very different trajectories start to snowball to create your experience.

Birth Preparation

Imagine You Are Preparing For A Marathon

Giving birth is frequently compared to running a marathon, representing an intense, long-duration physical and mental endurance event.

Both require targeted preparation, pacing, pain management, and mental fortitude to overcome the final, challenging stages, ultimately resulting in a profound sense of achievement.

Scientific research even suggests that pregnancy and birth push the human body to the limits of endurance, akin to sustained athletic exertion.

Key parallels in the marathon and birth analogy include:

Preparation & Training: Just as runners train for months, preparing the body and mind (e.g., strengthening, breathing techniques) for labor increases endurance and confidence.

Nutrition: your body needs to be in peak biological nutritional state to influence how your body actually functions. Danae believe that food is one of the most powerful strategies you have for a better birth.

The Pain Wall: Similar to hitting a wall at mile 20 of a marathon, labour has many faze where a crisis of confidence can appear and a “transition” phase where intensity is at its peak and mental endurance is tested.

Pacing & Energy: Labor is a marathon, not a sprint. Conserving energy early, staying hydrated, and finding a sustainable rhythm is essential, just as in a race.

Mind Game: Both require immense mental strength to overcome pain and self-doubt.

Support & Environment: A supportive, encouraging, and comfortable environment (like spectators for a runner or a calm birthing room for a mum) is crucial to keeping up morale and managing pain.

The Reward: Despite the pain and exhaustion, the finish line brings immense, life-changing accomplishment.

This analogy remains a powerful tool for preparing for the physical and mental intensity of Birth.
